1. Gather Your Supplies
Before getting started, make sure you have all of the necessary supplies. If you’re using a kit, you may already have everything you need. If not, here are some of the most common items you may require:
- Lip Wands
- Q-Tips
- End Papers
- 20 Pack Micro Brushes
- 20 Pack Lash Wands
- Glue Rings (Pink)
- 10 Pack Under Eye Patches
- White Tape
- Dental Sanitary Paper
2. Apply Under Eye Patches
Now that you have everything you need nearby and ready, It’s time to learn how to do a lash lift! The first step is to use under eye patches to hold down the client’s bottom lashes, just like you would with eyelash extensions. The bottom lashes shouldn’t get in the way of this procedure, so additional taping shouldn’t be necessary.
3. Choose a Form
Just like with lash extensions, the forms you use to shape the lashes have different shapes, such as L-curl, C-curl, and D-curl. Choose the one that fits the client’s preferences, or allow them to view images and select one.
4. Glue the Form Onto the Eyelids
The next step as you discover how to do a lash lift is to glue the form to the client’s eyelids. Make sure the eyelids are very clean. While you shouldn’t need to do any priming, it’s important to get rid of any oils and residue that could prevent the glue from working properly. Make sure you glue the form as close as you can to the lash line so you can curl the lashes right over it.
5. Curl the Top Eyelashes Up
As you learn how to do an eyelash lift, pay close attention to this important step because it’s going to create the shape of the lashes. This step will make or break the results, so take your time so you understand how to do a lash lift right the first time.
Using either your eyelash extension tweezers or a tool that comes with your kit, lift the lashes across the form, taking extra care to keep the lashes as straight as possible as you curl them up and apply the perm solution. Take your time. Allow the lashes to dry for approximately 5 minutes—they should retain their shape when you touch them.
6. Remove the Solution
Use warm water and q-tips to remove the solution before applying the second, setting solution.
7. Apply the Setting Solution
Before applying the setting solution, make sure the curled lashes are perfectly straight. Apply the solution to lock in the curl.
8. Apply Nourishing Agent
And that’s how to do a lash lift! The final step is simply to apply a nourishing agent to the finished lashes, and you’re done.
